An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative Arrhythmia Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)/ Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse (ASN) within the Cardiology Directorate of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT). The purpose of this post is to be part of the team leading and developing services to facilitate and enhance the arrhythmia patient pathway. This post is based in clinical practice and involves working directly with patients, relatives and clinicians.

The OUHFT is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for nursing and medical education, training and research. The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe, Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

The Arrhythmia ANP/ASN will provide specialist nurse-led care for patients with arrhythmias within the Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be an expert nurse within cardiology, part of a team leading and developing practice, running nurse-led nurse led outpatient and telephone clinics and promoting and improving quality of care for arrhythmia patients. This role will also allow the post holder to cross traditional role boundaries and provide technical support during electrophysiology procedures; a nursing role unique to this Trust.

The successful applicant will be a registered nurse with extensive experience with the field of cardiology. They will provide evidence of Masters level study and demonstrate post-graduate level working via a continuous development portfolio. A Masters level qualification in history-taking and physical assessment, as well as non-medical prescribing, would be advantageous. Completion of an MSc is required for the job title of Arrhythmia Advanced Nurse Practitioner. British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) accreditation in electrophysiology (EP) will be an expectation of the role.

The ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change is essential.

This is a part time post of 23 hours/week.
