RADIOTHERAPY PHYSICS GROUP

Principal Technologist

Salary: Band 7 £31,696 – £41,787

 

We are looking to recruit an experienced technologist to join our Radiotherapy Physics team in Oxford.  The postholder will take a leading role in the provision of a technical/clinical service in Radiotherapy Physics, primarily in treatment planning and equipment quality assurance.

You will be registered with RCT or HCPC.

 

The Oxford Cancer Centre in the Churchill Hospital has six multi-mode Varian linacs, GE CT scanner, Acuity simulator, Aria and Eclipse TPS, under a PFI Managed Equipment Service.  Recent implementations include SRS/SRT with ExacTrac imaging, SABR under CtE, breath-hold, HDR brachytherapy and transmission dosimetry. We also provide a MPE service for IORT treatments in GWH Swindon.

Planned developments include adaptive radiation therapy based on in-treatment imaging, introduction of new treatment planning algorithms and MIRADA auto contouring software. There is also an equipment replacement plan, starting in 2019. There are close links with the CRUK/MRC Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology and Biology, and an expanding portfolio of clinical trials.
