The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

pssst, did you know you can’t get pregnant standing up? Believe it or not, that’s one myth our nurses sometimes hear.

Of course there are others, including: “You can’t get an STI from first time sex”. So when you work as a sexual health nurse, you’ll need to be comfortable talking about things that aren’t often discussed outside the bedroom.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Sexual Health Nurse to provide a high-level quality service to the people of Oxfordshire.  It is essential for the individual to have a knowledge, clinical ability and experience of working within sexual health and contraception services.

The service operates Monday to Saturday with various clinics across the Oxfordshire county.  A typical week will involve working in our walk-in/booked sessions at our Level 3 clinics in Oxford and Banbury as well as our peripheral clinics across the county.  Please see our website for more details.  The service has a dedicated educational session every Wednesday morning allowing for staff training and service development.

Full time and part time applications will be considered. The post holder will be based at the Churchill site.  The post holder must be able to travel across the Oxfordshire county working within a designated sexual health team.  The post holders will need to be flexible and able to adapt easily to patient needs at different locations and be prepared to work in an integrated way across all aspects of our service.
