The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Applications are invited for a consultant neurologist, with a special interest in muscle disorders, to join the neurology department of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT). This is a substantive post. The vacancy has arisen due to retirement of the previous post holder, expanding collaboration with the Highly Specialised Service for Mitochondrial Disease, and the need for further general neurology support in the Horton General Hospital, Banbury.

Oxford is a large tertiary neurosciences centre, with a busy neurology department, and offers a wide range of clinical and academic interests. Oxford is renowned for its expertise in neuromuscular diseases, and is a member of the European Reference Network for such conditions. We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant colleague to take on and develop the service for muscle diseases, together with a well-established group of colleagues from neurology and other disciplines. The post will also include providing neurology advice and liaison for the nationally commissioned Highly Specialised Service in Mitochondrial Diseases, and it will deliver a weekly general neurology clinic and ward liaison service to the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, which also forms part of OUHFT. While this is a clinical post, there are ample opportunities to participate and develop interests in teaching and academic work in this large University Hospitals Trust.

Applicants should have demonstrable experience and training to CCT level in General Paediatrics.

To apply and gain further details of the post, please go to the NHS Jobs website and search for job reference: 321-S5-1246-MZ.
