Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology with an interest in Fetal Medicine

Applications are invited to apply for the above substantive post in the Department of Paediatric Cardiology based at the Oxford Children's Hospital, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford.

The successful applicant will join an established team of three Consultant Paediatric Cardiologists. This is a full time post in Paediatric Congenital Heart Disease primarily based at John Radcliffe Hospital but the appointee may be required to attend the University Hospital Southampton as part of joint working across both sites in the network.

The principal focus of this post is to undertake in-patient and out-patient care of children with congenital heart disease. It is hoped that the new post-holder will bring specific expertise in this area as well as development ideas and on-going service improvement. CCT or equivalent in Paediatric Cardiology and GMC Specialist Registration is essential. Overseas applicants who are currently working as Paediatric Cardiologists are welcome to apply as long as they are eligible for full GMC registration and inclusion on the specialist register.

The appointee will have a sub-specialty expertise in fetal cardiology. The post will include 1:4 on-call duties covering all aspects of congenital heart disease care. In addition the applicant will be involved in teaching both under and post-graduates and training cardiology trainees. In addition to doing clinics at John Radcliffe Hospital the appointee will also be expected to travel to regional district hospitals to do peripheral CHD clinics. The possession of a valid licence for driving in the UK is an essential requirement.
