Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

The Dermatology Outpatients Department is a busy department that sees in excess of 45,000 outpatients and day cases, with a wide range of dermatology conditions. We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Nursing Assistant, who has an interest in dermatology nursing.

The successful applicant will be required to support clinicians with clinic activity, undertaking patient assessment, observations and investigations.  You will be required to assist surgeons in our theatre suite, effectively communicating with patients and their carers, as well as ensuring patient comfort and alleviating patient anxiety.  Administrative work, re-stocking and preparing clinical environments are also necessary duties for the smooth running of the department.

Previous experience is not essential, as training will be provided. As a friendly and supportive team, we endeavour to help staff learn and develop their knowledge and skills, so as to enable individuals to feel confident in their role and achieve job satisfaction.

Working hours will be 37.5 hrs per week, mainly between Monday to Friday with no regular weekends and no bank holidays or night duty.  You will be required to work flexibly in the interest of patients and  the department,  as staff are required to work the occassional Saturday in order to meet service needs . Initial shift patterns will be agreed upon start of appointment and revised during the probation period.

The applicant must enjoy working within a team, have a sympathetic, caring nature and sound communication skills.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
