The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Specialty Doctor – Certificate of Eligibility of Specialist Registration (CESR),

Development Posts with Rotations in Trauma and Orthopaedic

Applications are invited for the posts of Specialty Doctor rotations for achieving Certificate of Eligibitity of Specialist Registration (CESR) in Trauma and Orthopaedic at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Four new Specialty Doctor posts are available as a full-time appointment to start as soon as possible from March 2018, as a fixed term post for 3 years.

We will support individuals in the training required, to achieve Specialist Registration via the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) route, through a local CESR rotational programme.

This is the first year these posts have been advertised as such. We are looking for candidates who aspire to complete a full training rotation within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The posts will deliver parallel training with that provided by Health Education England. The Trust would provide, over the course of the training period, experience in all subspecialties of orthopaedic and trauma care together with the support required to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR process.

Successful candidates would be expected to maintain an up to date portfolio, through the ISCP website and would be expected to fulfil the requirements of a training programme including as a minimum, annual assessment of progress, work based assessments and audit and research. The local training committee would undertake the assessments and if these are completed then progression to the next year of training would be undertaken.

Applicants must have full registration with General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.

It is essential that candidates have ATLS and FRCS/MRCS or equivalent is desirable.
