We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic and motivated Acting Senior Staff Nurse’s (Band 6) to join our dynamic nursing team on our expanding Paediatric Critical Care Unit. 

Paediatric Critical care unit consists of 17 level 2 and 3 critical care beds and a Critical Care Outreach service. Internal rotation is supported and encouraged.

We deliver care to critically ill children from the Thames Valley network area.  We are a lead Neurosurgical and major trauma centre for our network. Our specialities also include Spinal and Craniofacial surgery, non-invasive ventilation other multi-level surgery.

The OUHFT Paediatric Critical Care works in collaboration with Southampton to provide a joint retrieval service, SORT (Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team). This service provides expert advice to district general hospitals in stabilising critically ill children prior to being transferred to Southampton or Oxford Paediatric critical Care units and is staffed by doctors and nurses from both units.

The successful candidate will be able to work well within the team. They will have at least 3 years post registration experience with a relevant course for Critical Care. They will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent clinical and communication skills, with an ability to lead and motivate others. They will also enjoy teaching and supporting junior staff as well as pre and post registration students.
