The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Band 4 Pharmacy Technician post Horton site full time 37.5hours
We are looking for a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician to join the Dispensary Team at the Horton Hospital. This post would be ideal for a recently qualified Pharmacy Technician or a Pharmacy Technician who has worked in community pharmacy and would like the opportunity to gain hospital pharmacy experience.

The candidate will be dispensary based, working 37.5hours per week Monday to Friday. Candidates will be required to participate in weekend working on a 1:6 rota basis, late duty and bank holiday rotas.

The duties of a band 4 Technician include dispensing, MDS dispensing, ward stock top ups, patient counselling and extemporaneous medicine dispensing as well as providing the final check of medicines following successful completion of our Accredited Checking scheme.

The dispensary team at the Horton is a small cohesive team of approximately 8 staff ranging from band 2 Assistants through to a band 6 Technician. Some members of the Horton team are part time and others divide their time between dispensary and the wards, so the band 4 post, being a full time dispensary role, is vital to the smooth running of the dispensary. We have consistently found that although we are a small team, the training given here is excellent and technicians are able to later go on to progress well in their career, whether it be as a ward based band 5 Technician or in other diverse roles within Pharmacy.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
