An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (Oxfordshire) and we are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual, with proven leadership and clinical experience for the role of Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner.

The successful applicant will have leadership and managerial responsibility to lead the nursing team as programme prepares to further expand the Bowel Scope Screening across the county. You will work closely with the Programme Manager and other senior team members across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high quality, seamless patient care journey for participants of bowel cancer screening. The role is diverse and offers a challenging opportunity to participate in clinical practice, resource management, local audit, local governance and clinical supervision of Specialist Screening Practitioners.

Based in the Endoscopy Department at both our John Radcliffe Hospital and Horton General Hospital, the role involves delivering autonomous nurse-led clinics, telephone follow up and support during endoscopic tests. In addition, regular health promotion activities are undertaken to promote the programme with primary care staff and the wider general population.

Successful applicants will need to evidence both clinical ability and experience in staff management and development. Experience in endoscopy, polyp management and general cancer care is advantageous however not essential. The successful applicant will be required to work across site and have the flexibility to support screening lists on some evenings and some Saturdays.

The successful applicant will receive a structured orientation programme, detailed IT training and a fully funded educational module (at either degree or MSc level) specific to developing in the Specialist Screening Practitioner role. Opportunities for Continuing Professional Development and further academic study are available and actively encouraged.
