Band 7 Children’s Ilizarov/Hydrotherapy Physiotherapist
WTE 0.5 / 18.75 hours per week
Salary £30,460 - £40,157 (pro rata)

An exciting new post has been created for a band 7 Clinical Specialist Children’s Ilizarov and Hydrotherapy Physiotherapist within the Children’s MSK Therapy Service. This post is for an existing Children’s MSK Physiotherapist who is highly motivated, innovative and ready for the challenge of leading a service within our Children’s Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service at the Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust. The post will be based at The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre allowing for clinic cover and out-patient rehabilitation utilising the award winning interactive gym/physiotherapy gym and hydrotherapy pool. The successful post holder will be an active part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.

You will be responsible for leading the delivery of physiotherapy in the Children’s Ilizarov Service, Children’s MSK hydrotherapy provision and will carry a small children’s trauma out-patient/MSK caseload. The main duties of the post include working in the Ilizarov MDT clinic and managing the patient pathway. There will be an expectation that the physiotherapist works as part of a large multi-disciplinary team and liaises with our In-patient colleagues based at The Children’s Hospital to oversee the pathway for this patient group. Across site work at the Children’s Hospital may also be required.

The post holder will manage their own caseload providing a high standard of physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients with complex presentations. Delivery of interventions needs to be timely and responsive due to the varied needs of the client group, working closely with occupational therapy colleagues to facilitate safe discharge of patients as part of an integrated therapy service. You will demonstrate paediatric physiotherapy skills in complex rehabilitation, physical activity promotion, musculoskeletal assessment and treatment, discharge planning, and finding innovative and creative solutions for complex physical problems.

The post holder will also be expected to supervise and teach senior physiotherapists, recently qualified physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students. As well as undertaking evidence-based projects and driving forward change and development in service provision across all areas of work. The post holder should be an enthusiastic and self-motivated physiotherapist with good communication skills who is able to lead, motivate and support others.

Our Acute Therapy and Musculoskeletal Therapy services are integrated and therefore, experience in integrated working in clinical settings would be an advantage.
