The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry at the John Radcliffe Hospital is seeking an exceptional Band 7 nurse leader.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to lead and develop a Registered and Dental Nursing team in delivering high quality care, this is the job for you!

We are a busy outpatient department treating adults and children with a wide range of oral and maxillofacial conditions, including orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial injuries, oro-facial cancer, disorders of the TMJ, salivary gland disease and dentoalveolar surgery.

Supported by the Deputy Matron and working closely with the multi-disciplinary team, the Sister/Charge Nurse is key to ensuring the smooth running of the department and providing the best experience for the patient.

You must have a proven record of effective staff management, the ability to grow nursing roles and a commitment to your own and others professional development and education. Working autonomously within a nurse-led clinic as part of your role you will be the ultimate role model for the nursing team.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
