Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Financial Planning Manager (Band 8A)

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest multi-site acute teaching and research trusts in the UK, employing more than 12,000 people and with a turnover of c.£1 billion.

The Trust is seeking to recruit a Financial Planning Manager, who will support the Head of Financial Planning and Technical in the development of the Trust’s short and long term financial planning and to lead on in-year external management reporting against the financial plans to NHS Improvement (NHSI) and the Department of Health.  This will include the manipulation of financial data, development and population of complex reporting templates and financial models.

The position is suitable for those wishing to develop and who have a solid background of reporting in either financial management or financial accounting roles. The post holder will get a rounded experience of organisational wide financial reporting, the development of financial plans and forecasts, as well as working closely with colleagues across the organisation to develop robust inputs and evidence based assumptions.

The role is essential to supporting the financial planning process for the Trust, ensuring consistency is maintained with the Trust’s business plans, and will lead on the completion of external financial monitoring returns to NHSI.  The role will also provide expert and professional financial planning support into the development of the Trust’s future strategic plans, for example future service development and site reconfiguration proposals.

The understanding of the Trust’s regulatory regime, preferably within an NHS Trust or other public sector healthcare setting, would be advantageous but not essential. You will be able to evidence experience in financial reporting, financial planning and business planning processes and the ability to analyse and manipulate financial data.  The role requires the ability to work with multi-year planning templates and the ability to develop and review complex financial models and supporting papers.

Applications are encouraged from newly qualified trainees who are looking for a development opportunity in a large acute teaching and research Trust.
