Oxon Health Informatics Service: delivering ICT services to the NHS in Oxfordshire

Information Management and Technology Services (IM&T Services) provide support to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust users as well as to a number of other Health organisations across Oxfordshire.  This involves supporting over 10,000 workstations and printers, circa 11,000 staff users of systems, and nearly 800 servers (over 75% virtual).  During 2018, IM&T Services responded to 135,000 calls and were involved in multiple projects.

This role supports a busy, fast-moving technical environment and a diverse user community across Oxfordshire, and can provide considerable technical and personal development in a wide range of technologies and operational/project functions. 

Within the Network & Telecoms Team, to provide technical authority and leadership responsibility for delivering corporate Network system and services support.

OUH IM&T provides Network & Telecoms management, configuration and support for health organisations, including the Oxfordshire CCG/CSU, Oxford Health Foundation Trust, the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUH) campus sites, and 97 Oxfordshire GP sites. These supported organisations are distributed across over 180 locations throughout Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire.

This multi-million pound data/voice communications infrastructure supports 20,000 computer devices (PCs, Medical devices, printers, etc.) and over 7,000 IP Telephony handsets and enables the Oxfordshire Health economy to process and communicate information locally and across the UK. The network infrastructure also supports approx. 3,000 lightweight Wireless APs across the three supported counties.

The post-holder plays a leading technical role within the Network team, ensuring that the OUH and Service Level Agreements are either met or exceeded. This role would lead the Network & Telecoms team across many Cisco technologies, including Routing, Switching, VPN, Wireless, Datacentre, and Security/Firewalls.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and will be experienced and technically competent in network technologies; and the development and improvement of processes and standards.
