The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

NICU

BAND 5 STAFF NURSE

Full time, 37.5 hours post

The Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital is a Centre of Excellence in Neonatal Care. As a lead NICU for the Thames Valley, we provide level 3 care for extremely preterm infants within the network and offer a full range of tertiary services including surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, Newborn Transport Service and a community outreach programme. We also offer newborn cooling & other intensive therapies only found in tertiary centres.

The SONeT Team runs from the Newborn Care Unit, transferring critically ill babies 24/7. In addition, we have a Neonatal Outreach team and a dedicated team of clinical educators. Our close links with Oxford Brookes University means we also have an active research programme.

The unit is undergoing a major expansion, which includes doubling our ICU capacity. We currently have a 44 bedded Newborn Care Unit, with 16 intensive care cots, 16 high dependency cots and 12 low dependency cots. The spacious and modern purpose-built expansion will eventually over time increase to 20.

This is a rolling recruitment programme and we will be shortlisting candidates on a regular basis.

If you have previously applied please do not re-apply for 6 months.

We are not currently recruiting Adult Nurses without Neonatal experience or Graduates who are due to qualify in 2017.
