Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the most respected Trusts in the country. This is your opportunity to join one of our foremost clinical specialities.

The Oxford Neurology and Neurosurgery Departments are acknowledged globally for their excellence in clinical research, treatment and patient care, and this is a particularly exciting time for neuroscience nursing. We are proud to be one of only two centres in the  country to offer the opportunity to undertake a Post Graduate Neuroscience Course.  This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, develop or extend your existing skills in this fascinating specialty.

Neurosurgery  is a fast paced service providing both Emergency and Elective care for patients suffering from a number of conditions and who undergo a range of invasive and interventional procedures, for example craniotomy for brain tumours, haemorrhage or trauma, implantation of deep brain stimulators and spinal surgery. We step -down patients from Intensive Care, providing staff with the opportunity to develop their skills in Tracheostomy management and care of the Acutely ill patient.

The Neurology team provide care for patients suffering from a number of acute and chronic conditions including epilepsy, encephalitis, motor neurone disease. Alongside this we care for a number of rarer neurological conditions such as myasthenia gravis, ataxia and neuromuscular disorders.

Our Trust values include compassion, respect and excellence. If you consistently strive to achieve these values in your practice, then you are who we are looking for. We are proud to celebrate our recent nomination in the Trust’s Staff Recognition Awards for Excellence in Teamwork.

The successful candidates can expect excellent learning opportunities, both in house with our highly regarded Neuroscience Education Programme, including a week long Neuro-Orientation Programme and Neuro specific study days on a monthly basis. We also provide educational opportunities externally through our links with Oxford Brookes University. You can also have the opportunity to rotate between Neurosurgical and Neurology wards, thus developing your overall skills as a Neuroscience Nurse. We can also offer up to £1000 in removal or relocation expenses* T&Cs apply.
