Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Stimulating and rewarding opportunities have arisen for a Registered Dental Nurses within our small, friendly and enthusiastic outpatient team.

We are a busy, interesting hospital outpatient department treating  adults and children with a wide range of oral and maxillofacial conditions, including orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial injuries, oro-facial cancer, disorders of the TMJ, salivary gland disease and dentoalveolar surgery.

Our Dental Nurses work collaboratively with Dentists, Surgeons, Dental Therapists and Registered General Nurses to achieve a high standard of care and the best possible experience for our diverse group of patients.

To be successful in joining our team, you should be flexible, well organised with a professional friendly manner & demonstrate excellent communication skills. You should be able to use your own judgement to resolve issues, and have a tactful, sensitive approach to dealing with occasionally difficult situations. You should be able to work well under pressure with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to suggest ideas for improvements. In return we will encourage your professional development by ensuring you gain experience in all aspects of our service, whilst enhancing your skills and knowledge through a personal development plan and access to educational resources both locally and beyond.

Post registration qualification in either radiography or conscious sedation would be desirable however this should not deter applicants who do not have this specific experience as support and training will be given.

If you would like to be part of our expanding and dynamic nursing team then please contact us.

We have a full time post available at 37.5 hours a week. Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidates and flexible working options can be discussed at interview.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
