Cardiothoracic Ward

The Cardiothoracic Ward is a 25 bedded ward located within the Oxford Heart Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The patients we care for are either preparing for or recovering from major cardiac or thoracic surgical procedures.
The Thoracic Surgical team are looking for a physiologist/physiotherapist with relevant experience in thoracic surgery/pulmonary/exercise rehabilitation to cover maternity leave of a Macmillan® funded fixed term post. We are able to offer a full time position from 2/4/2018 until 16/4/2019.

As an Advanced Therapist Practitioner you would work with the Advanced Nurse Practitioner to deliver a fully comprehensive pre- and post-operative rehabilitation programme for people with cancer who are undergoing thoracic surgery. Duties would include, but are not limited to, assessing patients fitness for surgery, providing an outpatient and home based rehabilitation programme, attendance at the Lung MDT meetings, signposting/referring to other services (smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory/cardiac physiology), contributing to clinical audit, research and teaching. Through their comprehensive online and face-to-face training, Macmillan® provide additional opportunities for further education and skill development.
