Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant post John Radcliffe site full time 37.5hours

Due to internal promotion we are looking for a Band 2 Pharmacy Assistant to join the Dispensary Team at the John Radcliffe Hospital.  This is a full time post (37.5hrs per week) however flexible working options would also be considered. 

 

Previous Pharmacy experience is not essential and this post is ideal for someone looking to move from a community to hospital Pharmacy role or to start a  career within a healthcare setting.   The candidate will be required to work towards an NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services if they do not already hold this qualification.  You would be supported in this by our Education and Training Team. 

 

The John Radcliffe Dispensary Team are supported by technology and the Automated dispensing system (robot) directly labels medicines before they are released.  The post holder will be trained in the full use of the robotic system. Key duties of this role include

 

·         Labelling and dispensing medicines according to procedure

·         Assisting in efficient stock control management.

  • Receipt, unpacking and putting away of deliveries and filling the automated dispensing system.
  • Conducting checks of expiry dates and stock levels.
  • Delivering pharmacy goods to the ward areas in the absence of a Pharmacy Porter
  • Ordering IV fluids for wards and stock.
  • Greeting and dealing with customers at the Pharmacy Reception

 

The dispensary team is a team of over 20 staff ranging from band 2 Assistants through to band 7 Technicians. Many of our staff progress from this level to become Pharmacy Technicians or take other roles within the wider Pharmacy team and this role is ideal for gaining that experience to potentially progress further in your career.

 

We are looking for candidates with a positive and responsible attitude to work who can demonstrate good communication skills and work well within a team.   Candidates will also be required to participate in weekend, bank holiday and late duty rotas.
