ROTATIONAL POST – HORTON HOSPITAL

Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

Salary: £15,878 rising to £17,012 over 2 years and £19,409 once qualified (70% top of band 4 in first year then 75% top of band 4 in the second year)

37.5 hours per week - 2-year fixed term contract

We are currently looking to recruit a pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician, to work at the Horton hospital, however there will be a 4 week rotation to the John Radcliffe Hospital during the 2 years.

Pharmacy Technicians are essential members of the pharmacy and medicines management team, working under the supervision of a pharmacist. The duties include dispensing medicines, managing medicines on the wards, counselling patients how to take their medicines and purchasing/ stock control of medicines

Full practical in-house training will be provided, working towards gaining a NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills L3 {QCF} and a Level 3 Technical Certificate in Pharmacy Services and qualifying to then register with the GPhC as a registered pharmacy technician. You must be a team player, keen to further your education, and have a good attention to detail as well as the ability to work accurately in a busy environment and be able to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

Although professionally supported candidates will be expected to enter into a learning contract and commit a significant amount of personal time to completing course work.

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including Maths, English and Biology or Chemistry or a dual award science are required. Equivalent occupational experience will be considered e.g. NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.  Applications are also invited from graduates with a science related qualification.
