The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our surgery and nutrition team based at the Churchill Hospital with cross-site responsibilities to the John Radcliffe. We are considering applicants looking for band 6 or 7 positions and will provide training and support, including the opportunity to undertake clinical diploma training for pharmacists looking to progress in the hospital pharmacy environment.

This role entails making a difference to a wide variety of patients undergoing upper and lower gastrointestinal, head, neck and breast surgeries. In addition, the role provides daily support to the multidisciplinary adult parenteral service for inpatients as well as patients in the community. There may also be the possibility of future opportunities to become involved in research.

Applicants will be looking to complete or have completed a post-graduate diploma and be able to demonstrate solid foundation level practice with experience of the pharmaceutical management of surgical patients and preferably with some experience of adult parenteral nutrition. However, full training will be provided for the right applicant.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute teaching trusts in the UK, with a national and international reputation for the excellence of its services and its role in teaching and research. All new appointments to the Trust are subject to a 6-month probationary period.
