The Specialist Disability Service (SDS) is an established tertiary service which consists of experienced and forward thinking professionals who specialise in the management of people with complex physical disabilities, providing comprehensive holistic assessment and assistive technology solutions. Services include environmental control systems, computer access (hardware and software), communication aids, complex wheelchair controls, posture management (custom contoured wheelchair seating, static seating, bed positioning), mobile arm supports and a service to parents with a disability in relation to the manual handling and care of their baby. The team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, clinical scientists, rehabilitation engineers, speech & language therapists, and therapy assistants.

This post will be suited to a motivated individual who is competent with using word processing, spread sheets, databases, email and the internet, who has good communication, organisational and time management skills, and who can take the initiative when required. The post holder will perform a range of supportive clinical, technical, administrative and housekeeping tasks for the SDS clinical and technical teams in order to facilitate the smooth running of the service, particularly in the areas of environmental controls and computer access which focus on the provision of a range of assistive technology equipment. You will be required to liaise closely with a wide range of people, including external suppliers and agencies.

Although the post is offered at full-time hours, consideration will be given to the right candidate wishing to work part-time.
