Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Band 5 Staff Nurse -

Part time and full time positions : Short and Long shifts available

Up to £1,000 relocation support offered to eligible candidates

We currently have vacancies on both of our Surgical Wards at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford: Jane Ashley Colorectal Centre (JACC) and the Upper Gastrointestinal Ward (UGI). Our wards are fast paced but the environment is friendly and supportive.

JACC – cares for women undergoing breast and gynaecological surgery, and also cares for patients who have undergone colorectal surgery.

UGI –cares for patients who have undergone oesophagogastric and hepatobiliary surgery. We have very close links with ITU and also receive patients directly from theatres following major surgery.

The acute nursing care skills you will gain whilst working on our wards will enable you to work in any future environment with confidence and ability. We are happy to offer an internal rotation programme between both ward areas to support and develop you as a nurse.

This post would be an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified nurse to gain experience looking after acute surgical patients whilst being nurtured by experienced senior nurses. We provide plenty of learning opportunities and are affiliated with Oxford Brookes University.

We are looking for a forward thinking, motivated, professional nurse who is committed to providing a high standard of holistic care and can demonstrate a caring commitment to working in partnership with patients and their families.

Informal visits are highly recommended and welcomed, please see contact details below.

We review all applications weekly so applicants can be shortlisted and scheduled for interview in a timely way
