The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

£31,696 to £41,787 + 15% pay premia

Following retirement of a sonographer we are seeking to appoint a sonographer experienced in Obstetric and Non Obstetric scanning to join our friendly team at the Horton Hospital. The maternity ultrasound department is equiped with new GE Voluson machines and the main department with a Siemens Antares and GE Logiq E9’s.

The Horton General Hospital is located within easy walking distance of the busy market town of Banbury, in North Oxfordshire, close to the borders with Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. There are excellent transport links to London and Birmingham via Banbury Railway Station or via junction 11 of the M40. There are some excellent schools within the area and a good selection of areas to live that would suit most tastes and budgets. There is also an excellent children’s day nursery on site, with discounted rates for staff.

The HGH offers a good range of local services, e.g. Accident and Emergency, Medicine, Outpatients, Surgery, MSK and Women and Children’s services. It is part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, also comprising the John Radcliffe, the Churchill and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospitals, all sited 25 miles south in Oxford.

The HGH Radiology department offers excellent experience, with opportunities also arising for sessions within its sister Hospitals in Oxford. There are 2 ultrasound rooms within the HGH maternity unit and a further 3 US rooms within the main radiology department. There is also an Insignia PACS system with HSS Radiology information system (CRIS) and a Viewpoint software system for Obstetric scans.
