The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Band 7 Urology Prostate Nurse Practitioner
Salary £31,696 - £41,787 per annum (plus supplements if required to work unsocial hours or weekends)

Up to £8,000 relocation support offered to eligible candidates

We have a vacancy for an experienced nurse who is either already working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or would like to become a trainee ANP in Urology.

You will join a team of five ANPs and be based in the Urology Service in the Outpatient Department at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford. The ANP team run diagnostic services for patients within the oncology and benign pathways. They work closely with the outpatient staff, doctors and wider MDT.

The main focus of the role will be working within the Prostate Pathway. This will include triage of GP referrals of men with suspected prostate cancer; performing prostate biopsies; active surveillance clinics for men with low risk cancer and follow up of men with urinary symptoms who do not have prostate cancer.

You will be expected to perform diagnostic tests but also use your clinical expertise to interpret your findings, and making appropriate onward referrals.

There are also opportunities to develop and expand your skills within the other ANP diagnostic clinics such as performing flexible cystoscopies; investigation for men and women with urinary symptoms and lithotripsy treatment for stone disease.

This is an exciting time within our department as we are expanding and developing the nurse led services. We would love you to join our team if you are driven and keen to take practice forward. Even if you do not have urology experience we would we welcome your application if you are an experienced nurse with relevant transferable skills and expertise that can be used to the benefit of the team and our patients.
There is huge developmental opportunity and you will be offered extensive training to ensure that you are competent in the required clinical skills. We will support you in appropriate Masters level study to meet your own development needs as well as to meet Magnet accreditation.

The service is currently based at the Churchill Hospital but may also support future development of clinics at the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Closing date for applications: 13th April 2018
Interview date: 27th April 2018 (12:00 – 4:00 pm)

We would strongly encourage you to visit the department and talk with the ANP team.
