The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use values-based interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significance difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Band 7 Advanced Nurse Practitioner Posts – Cardiology Liaison

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Cardiology ANP team at the OUH to expand the service provided by our highly valued Cardiology Liaison Advanced Nurse Practitioners. 2.5 whole time equivalent posts have been created, with one post based at the Horton Hospital in Banbury to contribute to the provision of 5-day cover, and the additional posts based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to support the provision of a 7-day service.
The post holders will expand the existing team and work across Emergency Departments and the Emergency Assessment Units, liaising with Medical, Nursing and Physiology teams to ensure seamless delivery of care from a patient’s attendance or referral and throughout the patient pathway, including referral for assessment, expediting appropriate investigation and onward referral.

As part of the role, successful candidates will also contribute to the assessment and management of patients presenting to the rapid access chest pain clinic. As a skilled practitioner working at a senior level, the post holder will work closely with the teams in the Cardiac Angiography Suite and Cardiology Wards.

We are looking for expert nurses with a strong interest in Cardiology who have the ability to lead and develop practice in order to promote and provide high quality service throughout the patient pathway for patients and their families and will work with clinical colleagues to provide information, advice and support to patients with cardiac conditions. The post holder may be required on occasions to work across both the Horton Hospital (Banbury) and John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford) sites.

Applicants should have a strong clinical background relevant to the speciality, be able to demonstrate skills in history taking and physical assessment and hold or be willing to undertake a prescribing qualification.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
